Neill Catangay’s multimedia process employs sculpture, illustration, paintings, and video. As a first-generation Guamanian Filipino American, Catangay embraces his cultural identity and upbringing to create work that investigates themes of humanism, consumption, materialism, histories of colonization, and the evolving interactions between humans and technology using pop culture references and personal imagery. By combining visual art with research and introspection, he seeks to offer new perspectives and speculate solutions for both individual and collective futures.

Catangay’s work has been exhibited internationally: selected exhibitions include Guam Filipno Artists, Dededo, Guam; Guam Art Exhibition (GAX), Tumon, Guam; Isla Center for the Fine Arts, Mangilao, Guam; Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Philadelphia, PA; Da Vinci Art Alliance (DVAA), Philadelphia, PA; Payne Gallery of Moravian University, Bethlehem, PA; PUNCH Projects, Thorp, WA; Cambridge Innovation Center, Philadelphia, PA; InLiquid Gallery, Philadelphia, PA; Woodmere Art Museum, Philadelphia, PA ; The Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency Gallery, Hagatna, Guam; and Guam Museum, Hagatna, Guam. He has attended artist residencies at Marginal Utility, Philadelphia, PA and Tend Residency at the Walkaway House, North Adams, MA. Catangay is a recipient of CAHA FY 2017-2018 Grant from The Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency and is the recipient of the 2020 Mary Butler Fellowship Award at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. He is most recently the recipient of the 2023 Michelle Angela Ortiz Fellowship at Da Vinci Art Alliance, Philadelphia, PA. Neill serves as a faculty member in the Young Artists Workshop program at Moore College of Art & Design.
